Cyberbullying Video Project

1 comment:

  1. What parts of your video are you most satisfied with and proud of?
-I am most satisfied with the shock factor of our video. My group and I gave an immense effort to effectively display the seriousness of cyberbullying, and I think that through our interviews, clip placement and editing, we achieved that. We provided subtle irony in the Leila interview to create awareness, and I thought that aspect gave our video a clever flair.

What changes did you actually make on your final video?
-After reading and reviewing the comments on our video and previewing our rough draft in class, we went in and made some changes. We added title to provide a proactive approach to our video through instructions on what to do if the viewer or someone they know have encountered events of cyberbullying. We also rearranged and cut clips shorter to keep the pace of the video up-tempo. This was also attempted through more music and heightened sound during clips that were intended to be anxiety inducing to create a value of cyberbullying instead of an insignificant event. We wanted our video to make more sense, so we felt that we needed to add instructions and alternatives to ignoring the issue.

What changes would you make if you had another day or two?
-The changes I would have made if I were granted and extra day or two would include more filming which would have provided us with greater options and in turn, a more interesting variation of footage. I felt that we needed more time to edit and to review our video more throughly to ensure the clips went together more cleanly and all of the additional music and titles were appropriate and to the point. I also would have added more footage concerning what to do or who to go to in order to get help.

If you had the chance to do the project all over again, what would you do differently?
-As I mentioned in my previous comment, I would have filmed more and emphasised the proactive point of view concerning the victims of cyberbullying as opposed to what it is or the problems of the past. I would also have liked to have created a more in depth storyboard so we could have been more organized about what our overall objective was with the video.

What realizations, discoveries, and understandings did you reach about creating videos?
-One of my hobbies is making videos, so I'm well aware of the amount of time it takes to make a quality video. However, when working with an entirely new program and a team with an array of differing ideas and visions of how the video should be filmed and edited, I was often overwhelmed and frustrated. But this was a positive thing because it taught me to collaborate with my team and to experiment with a new program. I believe this made my technological skills concerning videos vastly improved. I also learned to listen to my team's point of view and incorporated it with mine. I believe this video displayed a great effort and it was an excellent learning experience for me and hopefully my team.
